  • CANDIDATE GRIEVANCE/APPEAL POLICY /PROCESS

pURPOSE

TTCOTM&BCL is committed to conducting its affairs ethically and in accordance with best practices relating to its grievance/ appeal policy towards examination results and its procedures. Each member of the faculty, staff and BOG shall share in this responsibility.

The purpose of this document is to define the procedures by which a candidate may appeal their examination or assessments results.

 

The policy is to define the procedure by which a candidate may appeal their examination or assessments results. 

PROCEDURES:

Step 1. The candidate will be required to formally appeal in writing using the Candidate Appeal Form and pay the required fee of three hundred dollars ($300) to the office. This is to be done only if the candidate verbal appeals remain unresolved by the faculty, staff and BOG.

 

Step 2. The formal appeal is submitted to the Assessor /Lecturer within 2 weeks after the posting of the examination or assessment results.

Step 3. The Assessor/Lecturer will investigate the appeal and review the candidate’s marks from the examination scripts or assessment instruments in consultation with the candidate in the presence of a mediator.

 

Step 4. If the appeal is justified, the Assessor/Lecturer will change the mark/grade results of assessments/exam.

 

Step 5. If the appeal is not justified, a meeting is held with the candidate to inform him/her of the findings.

 

Step 6. The College Principal will hear the arguments presented by the Assessor/Lecturer and candidate if a resolution is not obtained after step 5. If an agreement is still not reached, proceed to step 7.

 

Step 7. The External Verifier or Examination Committee will hear the arguments presented by the College Principal, Assessor/Lecturer and Candidate. The External Verifier or Examination Committee will make a decision. This decision will be made and documented as directed by the External Verifier or Examination Committee. The College Principal has the final say.

 

 Step 8. The College Principal will give the Candidate a formal reply as to the outcome of the appeal.

  • WITHDRAWAL POLICY

Students considering withdrawal are required to meet with the College Principal to discuss the reason (s) for doing so. Any student wishing to withdraw must inform the College in writing. A Student Withdrawal Form will then be forwarded to the student for completion. If the student’s tuition is funded by GATE, this document will be kept on the student’s file and sent to the GATE funding department. Students who fail to officially withdraw will be considered to be registered and will continue to incur charges. Regardless of the circumstances of withdrawal, the student is responsible for paying ALL outstanding fees including tuition fees.

  • DISMISSAL POLICY/CHEATING

Trinidad & Tobago College of Therapeutic Massage & Beauty Culture Limited reserves the right at any time to suspend and/or dismiss a student for violating the code of conduct, cheating or any other reason as deemed by the Principal and Board of Governors (BOG). Reinstatement following dismissal is at the discretion of the Principal and Board of Governors (BOG).

  • PERFORMANCE POLICY

Students must maintain a C average in all classes in order to remain in the program. Students who earn below a C average may be placed on Academic warning/Probation as decided by the Principal or Board of Governors and a plan of action is established to help the student achieve the required grade. Failure to improve performance may result in deferral / withdrawal / dismissal from the program to be determined by the tutor, principal, exam committee and BOG. A student must achieve a final grade of C in all classes to successfully graduate.

  • GENERAL STATEMENT ON POLICIES THAT ARE NOT DOCUMENTED HEREIN

Any unforeseen circumstances / issues or situations that are not documented in this Catalogue that may arise in the College will be dealt with on an individual basis by the College Principal, Staff, legal advisor and the Board of Governors. Should a student complaint not be resolved through normal administrative procedures the student and the College has the right to contact a mediator to be agreed upon by both parties within fourteen working days from the time the complaint has been lodge. In order for transparency to exist, if any complains or documentation has to be made by the College or the student, each party, must be informed verbally and a carbon copy of the letter that is being sent to the mediator should be given out to the parties involved at the time of referral. The College has in place an Equal Opportunity Policy, Candidate Appeal Process, Health and Safety Policy and a Quality Management System (QMS). These are displayed on the walls of the classroom and office and copies can be obtained by students.
